Our General English language learning centre in Geelong, Victoria, Australia will help you gain vital language and conversational skills needed to build a new life in Australia and easily communicate with colleagues in the workplace.
Our General English-speaking course focuses on speaking, listening, reading, and writing as well as different grammar and vocabulary each week.
You will learn different interesting topics and practice all your skills.
The objective of this General English-speaking course is to help you gain confidence in everyday situations and prepare you for real-life English-speaking environments.
Below is a sample typical scheduled week of English classes.
The length of your English course will depend on your English proficiency at the time of entry, your progress during the course and the entry requirements for the course that you wish to study afterwards.

We understand that different people learn at different speeds, so the below table is only
to be used as a guide.
Education Level
Students will require one of the following:
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of overall 4.0 (Academic or General), or
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 31+, or
• The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) 30+, or
• equivalent in line with the Department of Education and Department of Home Affairs regulations.
Digital Capability
Basic digital literacy (ability to communicate and access information through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, search engines, emails and basic use of MS office products).
Digital Hardware
Students will be required to provide their own device to undertake this course, Platinum Institute Australia recommends a Laptop Computer with Internet Access and up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Once you have achieve an IELTS Level of 4.5, you will be able to undertake your English studies in or English for Construction – Intermediate Level or continue your studies in General English.
